Water leaking in apartment

A downstairs neighbor came in late one evening. Water had dripped from the bathroom ceiling a few days earlier.

The apartment management office checked the water issue and opened the plastic cover on the restroom ceiling.

It poured a lot of water and left the cover open. Then water trickled down in drops. The office believes that upstairs is aware of the situation and it needs to be fixed.

After I had a conversation with downstairs, I contacted several repairmen the next day. One of them checked my home immediately  after a single call. He is unsure of water pipe is leaking because water meter is not running. Some other men came and cheked my home and the downstairs at the same time.

Opened the restroom ceiling’s maintenance box with an electric screwdriver.

I had to determine whether the leak was caused by a problem with a pipe or something else.

The maintenance access panel in the downstairs restroom ceiling has been open for about a month.

I can’t wait any longer to call a repairman. We should check the pipe leak first. It’s not easy to get someone to check a pipe leak that costs 300,000 won, regardless of whether a problem is found.

First, off the main water line from the water meter.

He connect water line from the boiler and air compressor. Carefully listening a hissing sound and finding out in a bathroom.

He is breaking tiles, getting closer to the hissing sound. He works very cautiously, not wanting any further trouble.  It would be a big problem if anything is damaged behind the tiles.

That’s what we’ve been looking for a month: a replacement for the damaged pipe.

I still don’t get why that pipe’s ripped.

We need to ensure that water leakage does not happen over the next few days. I communicated with the downstairs neighbor about whether the leak has stopped.

It is time to finish all the work. The repairman brings tools and a new tile. It makes noise when he replaced the old tiles with new ones. The door needs to be closed to prevent dust from getting outside.

The hardest part is feeling sorry to the neighbor. Downstairs has had difficulty using their bathroom for almost a month.

Thankfully, work is over. Finally, the leaking is done. Thanks for the neighbors’ kindness.
