Learning to manage anger from books

I believe I may struggle with managing my anger in specific situations, and this pattern repeats.  Therefore, I’d appreciate guidance on how to avoid tense interactions with my close friends.

When I’ve got a problem, I wanna be better at handling it.  Reading something relevant is always my first go-to.

I had the opportunity to visit a library and borrow two self-help books.

These books are

1. (The) cow in the parking lot :a zen approach to overcoming anger

2. Beyond anger.

Recognizing anger is the first step. However, determining whether I am upset at any given moment is quite challenging. It is difficult for me to understand my own emotional state.
