Son: June 2026(for 12months): Vitiligo Treatment

91st – 3 June

The treatment for my son’s vitiligo is an almost daily endeavor. Clinic visits involve excimer laser treatments, and on other days, we utilize a Sigma Mini home device.

There are some days, such as the day of a clinic visit or the day before, when we do not use the Sigma Mini device to allow for the full effect of the clinic’s treatment. I am pleased to observe an improvement in my son’s vitiligo condition. It is remarkable how quickly time has passed, as we have been bringing my son to the clinic for over a year now.

92nd – 5 June

I was in a hurry to catch the train to Daegu. Fridays are consistently more crowded at Yeongcheon Station compared to other weekdays. Several students in school uniforms were carrying luggage and bags, presumably also traveling to Daegu.

The increased number of people on the train made me more reserved with the children. I had mistakenly purchased tickets for the 15:23 train instead of the 17:25 train. I was confused, thinking the 15:23 train time was for a 5 PM departure. As soon as I realized my error after 15:23, I purchased standing tickets and made my way back. I felt more tired than usual when I arrived home.

93rd – 12 June

My son’s fingertips and toes are exposed to Sigma Mini twice daily, excluding the day before and the day of his clinic visit. This regimen was established after a discussion with the doctor by myself, as my son is currently undergoing laser treatment.

The doctor noted that improvement in these areas can be quite gradual and may necessitate the longest treatment duration. I was contemplating whether a supplementary 5-minute home laser treatment in the morning, specifically for these areas, would be advantageous, given their potential need for extended treatment. I had previously researched this type of home treatment with AI before my brief conversation with the doctor during my children’s treatment.

The doctor indicated that this approach should be acceptable, provided there are no signs of skin irritation following the laser treatment. I am diligently monitoring my son’s skin for any burns or blisters after the home laser treatment, despite its twice-daily application. Should there be any unforeseen side effects associated with frequent laser treatment, it would be prudent to consult with the dermatologist who is familiar with my children’s skin condition.

94th – 15 June

It is unusual to delay a response to laser treatment, even with very slow signs of improvement. The feet show no signs of improvement and are quite different. It is satisfying to observe when my son’s vitiligo shows redness after laser treatment or home laser therapy. I became concerned when others noticed my son’s different skin color.

95th – 26 June

We’re seeing the doctor again in over 10 days, and they’re always happy to see us. My son has been getting home laser treatments twice a day, one full body and the other just on his toes and fingertips. He was getting laser treatment at home when he should have been staying home. I’m not sure if it’s because of the hospital’s Excimer laser treatment, the home treatments, or the ointment, but it was amazing to see a few small dots starting to appear on the top of his foot where the vitiligo is. There had been absolutely no change at all since the vitiligo first appeared on the top of his foot. So seeing it respond to the treatment like this was really surprising and fascinating. When I asked the doctor about this, she explained that the treatment is working so well because he’s receiving it at a young age.

96th – 29 June

It took quite a while to take the children to the clinic on Monday. I was uncertain about the precise time I needed to arrive at the school before their after-school class. I had estimated that the regular class would conclude around 12:30 on Monday and Friday. However, it was past 12:50 when I was waiting in front of the after-school class, and then we took a public bus to YeongCheon train station. I am concerned about how I will manage to take two children to the clinic using public bus and train during the severe summer weather that is approaching.
