July 2025: Leucopathy treatment
9th time-july 2
This upcoming visit includes a new clinic appointment to address my discomfort while chewing. The clinic specializing in chewing issues is conveniently located near my son’s dermatology clinic. He will be attending the chewing clinic directly with me following his laser treatment.

I was requested to bring two 200ml packs of milk for the clinic tour, which is a new request. I have been asked to bring two packs instead of the usual one. While he doesn’t consume much milk at home, this clinic tour, which will last for several hours with me, makes me feel he might need a snack, as he will be missing his usual snack time from when he was in kindergarten. He actually consumed both packs of milk and ate a small pack of vegetables I had prepared.

He had one pack of milk at each clinic, one at his clinic and the other at mine. Visiting both clinics consecutively allowed me to compare their environments. I observed that the dermatology clinic was more patient-friendly compared to the new clinic. I would not have realized this without visiting both clinics in a row.

My chewing problem is not severe; taking the prescribed medication should naturally alleviate it, and if the discomfort persists, a follow-up visit will be necessary, but I have not yet taken the medication. This regular journey with an additional tour makes me feel more relaxed than simply going straight home.

Of course! Here’s the English translation of the Korean instructions from the image titled “턱관절이 아픈 경우” (“If You Have Jaw Joint Pain”):
🦷 Guidelines for Jaw Joint Pain

I was scheduled to visit the doctor on Saturday, which coincided with my family’s planned trip to Daegu for lunch. While I needed to care for my relatives over the weekend, visiting the clinic on Saturday created a unique memory for my family.

Considering the summer season in Daegu, a department store seemed like a good option for lunch, as it offered a cool environment and facilities for children. However, I realized that many others shared the same idea. It was incredibly crowded, and I struggled to find a table that wasn’t already occupied. I spent over 40 minutes searching for an available table.

Finally, I spotted a table where the occupants appeared to be preparing to leave. I stood nearby, hoping to claim the table, but someone else quickly approached and asked the seated individuals to vacate it immediately. Without hesitation, I interrupted their conversation, explaining that I was waiting for the table.

Although securing a table was somewhat inconvenient, the food was delicious, and spending time with my family while observing the other customers in the bustling environment was enjoyable.

I am planning a visit to a doctor in Daegu for laser treatment, and any assistance with this routine trip would be greatly appreciated. The procedure is brief, but the four-hour round trip via public transportation presents the biggest challenge. It seems like a rather ordinary journey.

The doctor mentioned that the condition appears to be improving, though I haven’t fully understood the details. I would like to explore some places along the way. This time, I am considering having a meal before returning home to Hayang, where I transfer. There are two burger shops near the bus stop that I don’t usually visit, and I am thinking of eating there and sharing with my child.

Receiving complimentary cheese sticks and drinks was a truly pleasant experience. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I found myself pondering how I might be perceived by others, particularly given my casual attire. I felt it might be perceived that I was not financially well-off, which led me to order only one burger and share it. It would have been inappropriate to express any concerns to the giver, and a simple “thank you” was the most suitable response.

Furthermore, I believe it would be beneficial for me to dress more respectfully when accompanied by my children. Despite these considerations, the complimentary meal was a positive experience, and I am eager to return to the restaurant. Thank you for creating another cherished memory. Additionally, I have been unable to schedule a doctor’s appointment this week, but I plan to do so next week.

I seem to be visiting the clinic rather often, and twice a week does feel like a significant amount. I have noticed a particular aspect of his condition: the color variations on his hand are becoming less pronounced, whereas this is not the case on his face.

I would like to discuss this change with his doctor. Thankfully, this aligned with my expectations, and the doctor confirmed it as a positive development. I am hopeful that the laser treatment will prove beneficial for his face. As a parent, the leucopathy on his face is more noticeable than on his hand.

I can easily imagine how he might be feeling when he is with his classmates, especially as an elementary school student. Perhaps he will manage his school life better than my concerns suggest. Considering the different perspectives on his condition, I am relieved that he does not have some of the health concerns he had previously, while still maintaining a caring parental perspective.

The weather was rather warm and humid for the clinic appointment. While the train was more convenient than the bus, its schedule, with departures approximately every hour, did present some inflexibility.

As I needed to have lunch, I selected a noodle restaurant near the clinic, but unfortunately, there was a queue. Waiting outside the restaurant with the children in the hot weather was challenging, and even a short walk to find an alternative within a ten-minute radius proved tiring.

I aim to create a positive and memorable experience for my child during each clinic visit. Despite the routine nature of these visits, there are small moments of joy that can create positive memories with my child. It appears there is no color difference when I observe the right side of his face.

I sincerely hope his facial issue improves soon. It is sometimes a relief to know that his issue is not related to his health.

Even though the weather was quite warm, I encountered an unfortunate incident. My pants snagged on a steel fence, and a tear appeared near the knee. Although the small scar doesn’t cause much pain, I feel a little self-conscious about wearing these pants.

Fortunately, the doctor mentioned that the healing process seems to be progressing more favorably on his face compared to other areas. It appears that facial treatments are proving more effective. Observing his face, I can see that the skin is indeed becoming darker, which is a positive indication. It seems that the healing process on his hands takes longer compared to his face. I am very pleased that his face is responding well to treatment. I have also noticed that the clinic’s waiting line seems to move more quickly during the week, except on Fridays.

Furthermore, I have been experiencing dizziness during my trips to and from the clinic. I believe this is due to the medication I am taking to alleviate the muscle pain in my right chest, which is likely intercostal neuralgia. While the pills are effective in reducing the pain, they unfortunately cause dizziness and stomach upset as a side effect. I am looking forward to returning home as soon as I arrive in Daegu.
I promptly went to the closest convenience store to buy a drink, in the hope that it might make me feel better. Although I was unsure if soda would be beneficial, I felt that taking some action was better than remaining idle. I quickly drank two bottles of soda one after the other.

At first, I thought about purchasing new pants at a store, but I soon became accustomed to the discomfort of my ripped pants, which I had been wearing for a few hours. The pants stayed with me throughout the day. Eventually, I was less concerned about the ripped pants and decided against buying any new clothes. Moreover, since I was not feeling well, I went straight home after receiving treatment at the clinic.

Lately, when visiting the clinic, it seems less crowded in Hayang or at the subway station. Particularly, the bus ride home has become more comfortable, perhaps due to the summer vacation for students in Hayang. It is not ideal for me to take a crowded bus where there are no available seats, but it is important that my son and I can sit together, side-by-side.

During my last visit, the doctor inquired about any oriental medicine my son takes, to which I replied that he does not. I was curious as to why he asked about Korean medicine, so I inquired about the reason. He explained that he wanted to rule out Korean medicine as a potential cause of the leucopathy. I responded that my son has never taken Korean medicine since birth.

He mentioned that Korean medicine can sometimes be effective for leucopathy, with treatments potentially including licorice root, a natural steroid that can reduce the condition. If I knew of a Korean medicine doctor skilled in treating leucopathy, it might be worth considering. However, I am concerned about the potential side effects of Korean medicine, so I am hesitant to use it for my son.

Nowadays, the application of a covering, similar to a film, is not being utilized to protect the cream applied to the leucopathy before bedtime. This film does not adhere to the skin for an extended period, only a few minutes, as my son’s movements in bed cause it to detach easily. I have also attempted this on his face, with the same outcome. While the cream intended for leucopathy does not appear to affect his skin discoloration, laser treatment has proven effective. Nevertheless, I cannot definitively assess the cream’s efficacy.
