5.Forehead bump treatment jorney 🤕

This may be the final stage of my daughter’s forehead treatment. It has also been the longest journey to see a doctor, with a five-month waiting period. I am seeking an opinion from a top university doctor regarding her forehead condition. The appointment is scheduled for 10 AM, making a same-day return trip from Yeongcheon to Seoul unfeasible. While it would be possible to leave home very early and use public transportation, it would be quite challenging. If we were to see the doctor on the same day in Seoul, I would need to take a taxi to Hayang subway station due to the lack of early morning public buses. Upon arriving in Seoul, everything would be rushed to meet the appointment time.

Instead of attempting a same-day trip, we plan to arrive in Seoul the day before, considering this journey with my daughter as a dedicated trip to see the doctor. It was quite unexpected to receive multiple messages from the university hospital where I had made an appointment several months prior, particularly regarding their efforts to foster a transparent medical culture. While initially surprised by the communication, I later came to understand its purpose. At first, I didn’t fully grasp the situation, but then I realized that patients and their families might reach out to doctors with requests born out of a desperate desire to cling to any hope.

I have developed a profound empathy for the feelings of patients and their families who are in such urgent need of a doctor’s assistance. Concurrently, this understanding has further solidified my trust in the hospital’s commitment to maintaining fairness and impartiality.

Thank you for scheduling your medical appointment.

My journey to the hospital was quite smooth, as I had checked the map beforehand. Additionally, the university provided clear instructions on how to reach them via public transportation. Some of the systems in place are quite beneficial for patients. I appreciate being able to see my turn on the screen, along with any potential delays. We were fortunate to see a doctor before our scheduled 10 AM appointment. The waiting room screen displayed patient numbers rather than names, which I found discreet. The doctor was very reassuring, informing me that no immediate treatment was necessary and that the condition would likely improve with age. However, the ultrasound images were not entirely clear, and the person taking them did not seem completely trustworthy. Despite this, the bump on her forehead was deemed not to be a significant concern.

Please ensure that she does not undergo numerous hospital visits or procedures. Doctors have observed that certain medical issues may improve with time, and some surgeries performed on children could potentially worsen their condition. Therefore, it might be advisable to wait until she is older, perhaps a high school student, to address any concerns regarding her appearance that might affect her quality of life. This would allow for another consultation with a doctor at that time. Additionally, when she eventually requires treatment for her bump, it would be beneficial to consider what medical technologies will be available to her at that point.

Unfortunately, it caused us to rush to catch an earlier train, which was quite unexpected. There were no train tickets available for a direct return journey from Seoul without transferring to another train. I was considering that we should take an earlier one. It has been quite a long journey for us, leaving me feeling very tired and unable to move, essentially becoming one with the couch as I reflect on the trip memories with my daughter.
