The appointment date at one of the university hospitals in Daegu is approaching. Due to the infrequent train schedule, an earlier train was taken to ensure arrival for the doctor’s visit, resulting in a wait of nearly four hours for the scheduled reservation.

There was an expectation of potentially seeing the doctor before the reserved time, but this did not occur, even with additional waiting. Fortunately, the doctor was seen before lunchtime. The doctor expressed interest in understanding the contents of a bump and suggested an ultrasound to investigate further. This necessitated a prompt visit to another clinic located outside the university hospital.

Thankfully, the university hospital bill was settled and necessary documents were collected before proceeding to the external clinic. All tasks were completed in a rush before lunchtime. This was accomplished, and Gimbap was enjoyed near the hospital, followed by an order of Budae jjigae.

I will be meeting with the hospital doctor in a few days to discuss the results of the ultrasound. I am pleased with the process we followed during the consultation. The doctor indicated that the condition could be attributed to aging, and while the bump is currently noticeable, it is expected to appear flatter as her facial structure matures.

Unless there is an emergency, it is advisable to postpone surgery until she is older. However, if she experiences psychological or social difficulties at school, we should consider intervention sooner.

For now, we will concentrate on follow-up observations, with the next appointment scheduled in one year. On our way home, my child fell asleep as soon as we got on the bus.

Jan 2026 – To busan
I had an appointment scheduled at a university hospital in Busan, following a visit to another hospital in Daegu the previous week. On the day of my journey, it was snowing where I live, but Busan presented a different scene, with clear and sunny weather, only one or two hours away.

Busan’s weather is often quite pleasant. I had hoped to have ample time to explore Busan before my doctor’s appointment, but unfortunately, that wasn’t possible. I had lunch in Nampodong and then proceeded to the hospital. As a first-time visitor, it took some time to complete the necessary paperwork and submit the ultrasound CD from Daegu.

The doctor’s consultation was rather straightforward. This time, there were no further actions that could be taken for her, and no alternative options were presented to us. It was a somewhat disappointing meeting, especially considering the long journey involved. Perhaps I had anticipated a higher quality of care than others, given the significant travel time and the fact that it consumed an entire day.
