Review:YeongCheon Festival

The festival, which spanned two consecutive days, offered convenient access within walking distance.

While it was quite crowded, there wasn’t a great deal for children to enjoy. There were only a few booths dedicated to children’s crafts, such as keyring making and paper gat.

However, the paper gat activity did not capture the children’s attention, and wearing their handmade gats seemed to make them uncomfortable, leading them to discard them.

Fortunately, the keyring booth was a significant hit with the children, and it was wonderful to see them thoroughly enjoy that particular activity.

Beyond the limited children’s activities, the majority of the booths focused on wine, Korean medicine, and beef, primarily to promote the sale of local products.

This allowed attendees who purchased these items to consume them on-site. The children had eagerly anticipated the festival for several days, having observed the booths being set up, the large balloon in the sky, and the stage.

They thoroughly enjoyed attending the festival for both days, finding various things to see and enjoying simply walking around. It was interesting to note that the children’s perspective of the festival differed quite a bit from my own.

I would prefer the entertainment festival to be well-prepared for family, but my children have a completely different perspective.

They only enjoy a few specific spots within the large festival grounds that bring them happiness. Additionally, it is wonderful to watch fireworks from a close distance after a Korean singer has performed.

The firework show lasts approximately 15 minutes, and one of my children was surprised by the sound of the fireworks. This made our family’s evening even more enjoyable.

After sunset, we typically prefer to stay home and prepare for bed, but this festival allowed us to stay up and have fun. We could hear the firework show and the festival music from our home, making it even better to enjoy, especially since these types of entertainments are not frequent in this city.

It is great for locals to enjoy, but I wish there were more enjoyable booths for children. Most booths are related to drinks and food for adults, or offer free food samples that create very long queues.

There are also safety concerns, such as smoking, cars entering the festival area, and crowded people without proper safeguards. The festival routine seems quite similar every year. I hope next year will offer more interesting things to see and experience.
